Bob Powell graduated from Louisiana State University with a B.S. in Landscape Architecture. He had the experience of working for Disneyland in California, which helped him develop a sense of imaginative design. He set up and managed a landscape design and construction company in New Orleans, Louisiana for nine years.
In 1976, Bob bought Gledhill and began to establish it as one of the country’s most unique garden centers and landscape companies. He has had a commitment to sharing ideas, experiences, and knowledge with the public as well as civic and trade associations. He frequently spoke to groups about landscape design and gardening ideas. Bob served through active association with many trade organizations, including the American Nursery and Landscape Association, the Garden Centers of America, the New England Nursery Association (past president), the Connecticut Nursery & Landscape Association (past president), and the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce (past president). Bob passes this commitment of service to his staff with a reputation for quality, knowledge, and service.
